Outdoor Entertaining Bar Area

During these warm weather months, being outside with friends and family and enjoying outdoor entertaining is a blast! If you have been thinking about adding an outdoor bar, kitchen, or more entertainment areas, I plan to release tips to help you bring your indoor lifestyle outdoors in the upcoming weeks.

Ideas for Adding a Bar for Outdoor Entertaining

  • The quick and easy option is to add a free-standing large or small bar set, depending on your needs, that is ready-made and super easy. Check the exact wording on the outdoor material and choose the right one based on your situation. Often items are listed as “weather-resistant,” implying that they cannot withstand exposure to outdoor elements.
  • Add a bar to an existing deck! This DIY article offers steps on making a bar that can flip up or down and is excellent for a small deck.
  • Love Your Deck sells DIY rails that you add to an existing deck and attach the bar material of your choice to have a bar the length of a deck. Check out their online gallery for inspiration.
  • Don’t forget the outdoor stools for seating! Measure the seat height for your stool, and ensure the material is rated for outdoor use.

Outdoor Kitchen Goals

If you want to build an outdoor kitchen, research what is involved and the costs. DIY ideas are available online at varying levels. This Old House offers instructions on creating an upscale grilling area that you could add to in the future. As this is a complicated topic that may involve construction, water, and electrical needs, you may want to connect with an outdoor kitchen designer or contractor.

Look forward to more outdoor entertaining and decorating tips in the future!
