As a home decorator, I come across many challenges in decorating that we solve along the way. I decided instead of keeping the ideas to myself I would share them in a decorating post for you. I hope you find them useful! If you have a fabulous decorating solution, I would love to hear about it.
1. Hide wires and cables in the office:
It is a constant struggle in home decorating to contain cables and wires, especially for a home office. I recently came across a handy product from The Container Store called a cable zipper that allows you to cover up multiple wires at one time and can be mounted on a wall or under a desk.
2. Hide lamp wires on a console, end, or buffet table:
If you have a lamp wire, you are trying to hide on a table, attach the mini clear 3M hooks that will attach to the back of the table and guide the wire where it will best be hidden. Another idea is to make the wire the same color as the background. Keep in mind that wires can be spray painted!
3. Create a modern and non-messy message board in your kitchen:
Chalkboards and whiteboards leave dust that makes them unappealing in the kitchen. Instead, create a modern look with a clear acrylic board using wet markers. You can make your own, and I found instructions from A Beautiful Mess on YouTube that gives you a quick step-by-step. The video displays using the acrylic sheet as a way to hang artwork; you would omit those steps for this purpose:
Items needed:Â clear acrylic sheet, standoff mounts, wet erase markers.
