As we head into October, the days shorten, and my desire to curl up with a good book or movie intensifies. Do you have a cozy reading spot you call your own in your house? If not, continue reading for ideas to create your cozy place!
5 Easy steps to create a cozy reading spot:
First, find the right place in your home, by a window, or use a portion of a room where you think you could have some peace.
1. Find the Perfect Chair
This chair should be comfortable for you, not your kids, the dog, or anyone but you! If you don’t have a chair, repurpose one from another part of your house. Check home stores in your area or online sites. You can create your cozy space without spending a fortune; take your time to find the right comfortable pieces.
2. Comfortable Pillows
There are plenty of gorgeous pillows, but are they suitable for you in your cozy space? You want it to have the proper shape, flexibility, and be made of soft materials, not itchy or rough.
3. A Cozy Throw
You may wish to purchase the pillows and a throw together to coordinate them. Many options are available, from faux fur, wool, chenille, or a comfortable knit.
4. Side Table
The space you need to set your book and a cup of tea does not have to be very big. Walk around your house and see if there is something you could repurpose. For example, a lovely garden stool, stacked beautiful boxes, a narrow bookcase, or a plant stand (it should not be too tall, as tall as the arm of the chair.)
5. A Floor or Table Lamp for Reading
If you have a side table that is big enough, you can use a table lamp that is designed for task lighting. Or consider adding a floor lamp, eliminating the need for a large side table. There are many options available for you to choose from that will fit your decorating budget and style.
