Welcome to the hot and humid month of July! For those of you who live on the east coast you either love this time of year or are in constant search for a cool environment. In honor of this summer month, I wanted to give you five fun ideas you can do in July!
1.      Is Your Grill Party-Ready?
The faithful grill such a great way to cook farm fresh veggies, fish, and meats over the summer! Is your grill up to the task? Be sure to clean it out to remove all bacteria and grime before your next party. I found a great article on DIYNetwork.com for an easy way to clean your grill in 15 minutes! Let me know how this works out for you!
2.      Bring the outside IN!
Cut some of those lovely perennials that you have grown in your yard and place them with cut evergreens or dried branches in a beautiful vase to make an eclectic centerpiece for your island or dining table. If you are looking to plant perennials, now is a great time to snag sales at garden centers. Click here for a list of the best perennials to plant for cutting by BHG.com.
3.      Lighten Up!
On the east coast we experience our share of heat and humidity, lighten up your décor with summer pops and be sure to remove heavy blankets and coverlets from your guest bedroom. Consider a lovely French Cotton or Linen to keep your guest cozy and cool. Click here for useful information on how to keep your summer guests cool with different bedding options. Check out these online retailers: JossandMain.com or OneKingsLane.com to purchase items at an affordable price with a French vintage look.
4.      Go to Garage Sales!
This is the time of year when people are removing things from their house and having great yard sales. It is a fun way to spend a few early hours on Saturday or Sunday, and the finds can be impressive. Have you ever gone garage sale hunting? It can be quite an experience, and you have no idea what you may find! Tips for garage sale hunters: Get there early!  Focus on the things you want to buy.  If you are looking for bigger items, be sure you have a way to get them home.  Have cash available and have fun!
If you are not interested in this idea but love the look of vintage items, or repurposing items check out Etsy. I have been amazed at some of the finds available there, click here to find your treasure piece!
5.      Change Up the Outdoor Party!
Outdoor parties and barbeques are plentiful over the summer, do something different with your party and present a theme! Have a cocktail contest where everyone has to show their custom cocktail (alcoholic or not) and assign judges – you could create a fun gag gift as the trophy for winning the game. Give it a try!
Here’s a list of online sites to come up with creative summer cocktail ideas: FoodandWine.com, Epicurious.com, FoodNetwork.com.
Have a beautiful July! If you need help with an outdoor or indoor redesign, thinking of changing up the paint color in your home, or thinking about moving contact Debbie@RedesignRight.com for a solution!
