iStock_000028128174SmallI recently had a friend share a link with me on Facebook detailing the “30 Relatively Simple Things That Will Make Your Home Extremely Awesome” and looking through it; I found some really great ideas.  You see the ideas and think, yes, but can I really pull that off myself without paying an electrician, plumber, or handyman?  Thinking that I only want to undertake projects that I can complete myself I started to do a little research on some of the ideas and decided to share my findings with you.  The examples that I’m giving will include do-it-yourself instructions.  Let me know if you have a personal favorite!

    Half Tables

I love the idea of taking one table and potentially doubling what you can do with it!  I found a DIYer, Scraphacker.com, which does the most amazing things with tables and all sorts of furniture scraps.  This allows you to add a half table to a small space, such as a bathroom or bedside table that attaches to the wall and offers a nice visual and storage area.  Click here to view the instructions on how to create a half-table out of an old table – the results are amazing!

Sink Front – Tip out Tray

I love this idea from Rockler.com where you can add, to a fake drawer in front of your sink, the ability to be a tip out tray drawer.  You could use this space for all the things you use at the sink, sponge, scrubs, etc. and it looks easy to install.  Click here for information on this product.

    Bead board Drying Rack

This is such a great idea!  I found this Bead board Drying Rack at Ballarddesigns.com and think of the versatility and space-saving aspect that it can add to your laundry room or mud room.  I also found an Accordion style rack that offers hooks and a little shelf.  Bonus!

    Dutch Door

If you have small children or a dog that you want to keep your eye on, but don’t want to install a dog gate, consider changing your existing door into a Dutch door.  Where the bottom half remains closed and the top half you can open separately for easy viewing.  For instructions from HGTV.com on how to complete that look click here.

    Slide out Drawers in Cabinets

I love the idea of adding slide-out drawers in cabinets that are long and narrow for small pantry items or spices in the kitchen or perhaps for small items in the bathroom.  If you watch this video, you feel like you can do this yourself!  These products from QuikDrawers.com make it look very easy!  It may be a stretch, but I’m thinking about giving it a go!

    Dividers for Kitchen Cabinet

I found this idea from BHG.com for an inexpensive way to make a quick change to existing kitchen cabinets.  Add curtain tension rods vertically to separate the space so that you can easily slide in serving trays or baking dishes and access them quickly and safely.  Isn’t that genius?

Logo-JPEG-1Those are just a few fun things I read about and wanted to share them with you; I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did learning about them.  If you need some help with organizing a room to maximize the amount of use and enjoyment you get out of the space, please contact Debbie@RedesignRight.com.
