As we wind down the holidays and approach a New Year, it’s a good time to reevaluate the things around us. For many of us, we will soon be packing up and storing our holiday decorations. During this period I highly recommend going through the process of asking yourself for each item that you carefully pack away, “Do I love this?†or “Does this bring me joy?†If you find yourself answering “No†to these questions, choose to dispose if it is tattered and falling apart or consider giving the item to a charity foundation. Taking this action will accomplish many things. One, it will make you feel better. Two, by getting rid of things you remove clutter and free up space. Three, if you are giving things away, you bring joy to someone else.
For all the items that you are choosing to save, you will want to pack carefully, label and organize them for next year. Be sure to pack all the things that go together in the same container. I found some great tips from Better, Homes & Garden to help you with this process, click here to view.
If you find yourself storing things haphazardly, you will be very frustrated when you go to decorate next year. I suggest heading to one of your local home stores such as Bed, Bath, and Beyond or Target and pick up some storage products.
