You may or may not know this about me, I love the beach! I love the blue of the Caribbean, and I enjoy the sun and warmth and all the relaxation and fun that goes along with being by the ocean. In this spirit, I wanted to offer some ideas and ways that you can incorporate the things that you love about the beach into your home décor. I believe that the items around you should bring you joy. Create this look in a room, outside area, or anywhere you want the look and feel of the beach. Here are five tips:
1. Use Sea Glass
The blues and greens of beautiful age-worn sea glass vases are gorgeous; however, finding the size you want at the cost you desire can be challenging. Why not make your own? It’s easier than you would image! I found these instructions from Sand and Sisal, which offers a step-by-step, click here to create this look.
2. Incorporate Driftwood
Pieces of driftwood can be used in center pieces, candle displays or if you can collect enough of them can be turned into a wall display. Check out this lovely idea from Creative in Chicago, where she creates seahorse wall art using cardboard and driftwood.
3. Add Rope
Thick sisal or manila Rope instantly adds a nautical feel, from a rope lamp to a Monkey’s Fist there are several ways to incorporate rope. Here are a view ideas, click on the item to view:
- Rope Knot Table Lamp from Pottery Barn
- Rope Work Items from Etsy
- Rope Mirror from Home Decorators
- Are you interested in making a Monkey Fist? You can pick up sisal or manila roping at Home Depot, click here for some options. Click here for a step-by-step.
4. Add Beach Themed Wall Art
I love the look and feel of vintage wall art, especially when it’s beach-themed. Check out these lovely vintage shell prints that you can order in many sizes from Etsy, click here to view. Before you do that though, go to your local home store, such as Michaels, and pick out a beach-themed frame such as a weathered looking (such as a barn wood) frame. Purchase the frames first, to ensure that you order the proper size prints for your frames!
5. Shells and Sand
Take everything out of your existing clear glass lanterns and glass hurricanes and fill them with sand and lovely shells that you have collected or purchased. Add a Caribbean blue candle to finish off the look! Place these items on a shell covered tray such as these beauties from WayFair, click here to view. Use the same color candle as you have in your throw pillows and light-weight throw to polish off the look in a room!
