Whether you are updating a bathroom in a home that you recently purchased or fixing an old one that you’ve tolerated for too long I want to share some of the latest trends and remodeling ideas. This week I want to focus on a summary of ideas to get you thinking about your bathroom remodel and go through the process of choosing what you want to accomplish.Continue reading Bathroom Update
In the past, we have seen bathrooms using whites, creams, and beiges mixed with gold and brass fixtures. There is a new look trending now in bathroom design where you use tones of dark gray or blue with brass or gold fixtures, and the results are stunning!
If you love the idea of adding a touch of gold or brass, check out this bathroom where they mixed polished chrome fixtures and aged-gold accents in the handles on the cabinets, mirror, and light fixtures.
Do you love the look of shabby chic? If you are a do-it-yourself type, consider turning a cabinet into a bathroom vanity.
For instructions on how you can turn a cabinet into a bathroom vanity from HGTV, click here. If you decide to go this route, you may want to give Annie Sloan paint a try, click here to view instructional videos on her YouTube channel.

I love the new bathroom products that are now affordable and available to homeowners. I wanted to review three spectacular trends in bathroom design.
Are you planning on renovating a bathroom in your home? In my last decorating article, “Planning Your Bathroom Remodel,” I offered tips on planning guides and bathroom trends. This article will focus on the various aspects of the bathroom and provide tips and information on replacing. Once you have the plan for your bathroom changes, you will want to understand the costs involved. Click here for an estimator from HomeAdvisor. Let’s review aspects of the bathroom you may be replacing:
Faucet, Shower Head, Toilet, Tubs
There is a new label that you will want to look for, similar to the Energy Star, called WaterSense. When a product has this label, these products “Are 20 percent more water efficient than average products in that category.” (EPA.gov)
If you don’t plan to install a new faucet, you can still save on water by installing a low-flow aerator. Click here to watch a video on how to install one on an older sink. Click on the one of the following topics for in-depth information:

Tile Ideas & Trends
To review the tile trends, click here to view information from Daltile.
In my article titled, “2016 Kitchen and Bath Industry Winners,” one of the winners, Walter Zanger, has beautiful and unique award-winning geometric tile designs. Check out their Sterling Row collection with looks of wood and marble inlay.

With the paint colors of the year being Rose Quartz and Serenity Blue (Pantone), Simply White and Alabaster (Benjamin Moore and Sherwin Williams) the look this year is peaceful, crisp and clean. Check out my Pinterest board to review the trends. If you plan to do the painting, Consumer Reports suggests that you first wash the walls as mildew may be present even if it is not visible. Use 1 part bleach to 3 parts water and a sponge. Rinse the walls with clean water after using the mixture and let them dry thoroughly before painting.

The Kitchen & Bath Industry Show (KBIS) was recently (January 20-22) held in Las Vegas, and I am always amazed at the beautiful and functional design items that come out of that show. Are you planning a bathroom renovation or makeover? Simply replacing your hardware with an updated look can make a big difference, along with a fresh coat of paint! In this decorating post, I wanted to focus on the bath-related prize winners from the KBIS show and offer ideas for your bathroom project. For a look at the prize-winning products, I created a board on Pinterest so you can quickly check them out, click here to view.
The Best of Bath Gold winner was Walker Zanger, Sterling Row series. This company creates luxury stone and tile and is inspired by men’s tailoring in a color palette of grays, blacks, and whites with a wood-finish.
Best of Bath Silver went to ROHL, Michael Berman Graceline™ C-Spout Widespread Lavatory Faucet. This faucet was created with a “streamlined design, featuring sleek lines and industrial details.” It is reminiscent of the old luxury ocean liners.
Under the People’s Choice Awards, first place went to Coastal Shower Doors for their Gridscape Series. These doors are revolutionary in that they offer a French door feel, with modern rust-proof anodized aluminum panes with an oil-rubbed bronze finish.
