Tips to Repurpose Old Pieces

by Debbie Correale

I love the idea of repurposing a piece of furniture, especially if it is one that has a family history. If you have an old piece stored, look at it, and think of new ways to use it in your home office or for dining and entertaining.

This cabinet had been in our family for a long time, and my daughter wanted to use it as a bar cabinet. After a good clean up and application of Old English furniture polish, we added removable wallpaper to the back of the cabinet to brighten it up and incorporate it into the room’s modern design.

You can add a fresh look to any piece by painting it; if it’s a small piece, consider spray paint. Keep in mind that removable wallpaper has many uses, for example, the back of a bookshelf or built-in unit.
