I was recently asked what item in my home would be the one that holds the most memories that I would move with me wherever I went. After much thought, I would have to say it is a double rocker I purchased in 1987 in Valencia, CA (our second home) after discovering I was pregnant with our second child, Stephanie. Although it is not the most valuable or oldest piece in my home, it is the one with the most memories.

Jen, Stephanie, and Baby DJ – 1989

It has moved with us approximately 14 times, been refinished, painted, and reupholstered at least 5 times. It has served as a quiet reading place for many small people, a fort adorned with a blanket and lunch, numerous wild “rocker rides” when mom was not looking, and now this wonderful rocker will be a place to rock and read to my first grandchild.

Rachel in her Christening gown – 1993

Oliver enjoys relaxing on the newly reupholstered rocker! What is your most memorable piece?
