Home Interior Decorating Pantone 2017 Color of the Year

Pantone 2017 Color of the Year

by Debbie Correale

GreeneryIn 2016 Pantone selected calm and soothing colors of Rose Quartz and Serenity Blue. This year they have turned to vibrant and chose Greenery 15-0343 for the 2017 Pantone Color of the Year! Here are the words of Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute:

“Greenery bursts forth in 2017 to provide us with the reassurance we yearn for amid a tumultuous social and political environment. Satisfying our growing desire to rejuvenate and revitalize, Greenery symbolizes the reconnection we seek with nature, one another and a larger purpose.”

This color may be used in various ways in the home as a wall color to create an earthy peaceful environment or as pops of color in furniture, light fixtures, or accessories. As we move into 2017, you will see plenty of this vibrant color in fashion, home décor, advertising, and nail polish!

If you love the pop of color but not sure you want to commit to a piece of furniture you can easily add it in various ways, by adding a throw, a vase, a tray or picture frame, a rug, or pillows. If you decide to add Greenery as an accent color, choose at least three different items to share this color to tie the look together. Fortunately, this color complements many colors and would easily fit into various room types. Click here to view Pantone’s Greenery color pairings. If you would like to give it a try, go to your local craft store (I know Krylon makes shades of this color) and pick up a can of gloss Greenery spray paint and paint a frame that you are not using and see how it works in your room.
