As we go from October into winter, the days shorten and my desire to curl up with a good book or movie intensifies. Do you have a spot you call your own in your house? If not, let’s create one in five easy steps:
First, you need to find the right place in your home, by a window or use a portion of a room where you think you could have some peace.
1. Find the Perfect Chair
This chair should be one that is comfortable for you, not your kids, not the dog, no one but you! If you don’t have a chair that you can repurpose from another part of your house, check home stores in your area or online sites. You can create your cozy area without spending a fortune, take your time to find the right pieces.
2. Comfortable Pillows
Let’s face it, there are plenty of gorgeous pillows but are they right for you in your cozy space? You want it to be the right contour, flexibility and made of soft materials not itchy or rough.
3. A Cozy Throw
You may want to purchase your pillows and throw at the same time so you can coordinate them. There are many options available from faux fur, wool, chenille, to a comfortable knit.
4. Side Table
The space that you need to set your book and a cup of tea doesn’t have to be very big. Walk around your house and see if there is something you could repurpose. For example, a lovely garden stool, stacked beautiful boxes, a narrow bookcase, or a plant stand (it should not be too tall, as tall as the arm of the chair.)
5. A Floor or Table Lamp for Reading
If you have a side table that is big enough, you can use a table lamp that is designed to give you enough light to read. Or you may consider a floor lamp, and there are many options and styles available, click here to view ideas.
