5 Quick Bathroom Updates

by Debbie Correale

Woman doing WorkAre you tired of looking at your old builder’s bathroom? If you want an update and don’t have the resources or time to do a complete renovation there are five things you can do this weekend to offer a brand new look!

Remove the Builders Faucet

There are many options available, and you can go to your local home store and find something that you like. If you know how to turn your water off this project may not be as complicated as you think! For online options, click here for ideas from FaucetDirect.com.

Add a new Hardware Set

Replace that old hardware with a new and updated look! Wayfair has some beautiful online options, click here to view. If you need some help installing holders and towel bars, click here for step-by-step instructions. If you have the old brass or silver builder light, consider spray painting it to match your new hardware set. Replacing the light is not a big cost item, click here to view some options. I found this idea from an online decorator where they replace the strip light unit Hollywood bulbs with Edison bulbs for an original look.

Add a Shower Curtain

If you have an old builder’s shower door, cover it up with a tension rod and shower curtain! There are many lovely options in any color combination you could imagine! Click here to view ideas from Overstock.

Add or Replace Cabinet Knobs

If your builder cabinets do not have knobs, adding them to compliment your new bathroom hardware set adds a nice touch. For some unique options, visit these online sites Hobby Lobby or Anthropologie.

Frame that Mirror

Do you have one of those builder’s mirrors? You can transform that mirror with a frame! I found a resource online that offers beautiful framing options for standard size bathroom mirrors click here to view. If you are handy, this is a project you can complete yourself by using molding from your local home store, click here to see DIY instructions from HGTV.

Redesign RightAll of these items can be done in a weekend and transform a drab bathroom into a fresh and updated look! If you have the time and resources, consider a fresh new paint color!
