Thinking of a Kitchen Renovation or Redesign in 2014?

by Debbie Correale

Kitchen RenovationDo you find yourself standing in the middle of your kitchen and disliking everything if not most aspects of your kitchen?  Let’s take a fresh approach!  First determine exactly what you need from your kitchen and then what you want to change and establish your budget.  If you are looking at a complete kitchen renovation, I would highly recommend discussing your plan with a professional architect to ensure that you get the best and most functional usage out of your kitchen space.  For a place to start, read this article from Houzz.com, which offers a workbook on planning your kitchen space like a pro.  If you are trying to update or fix some problem areas of your kitchen, I have some great tips!

For many people, the first problem is how to organize and deal with clutter.  For this, I refer to Andrew Mellen, a professional organizer who helps you eliminate “stuff” and retain what you love!  Here are his three rules quoted from “12 Ways to Unclutter Your Life“:

  1. Everything you own should have value, either because it’s functional or beautiful or you just love it.
  2. Every item needs a place where it “lives”.
  3. Focus on one thing at a time.
