Home Holiday Decorating July 4th Traditions

July 4th Traditions

by Debbie Correale

When you think of July 4, what do you think of?  The signing of the final draft of the Declaration of Independence?  Fireworks, hotdogs and parades?  I remember when we were small we would ride our bikes into town, and our church would have home made pies – we would look over all the different pies and imagine which one we would like to eat!

There are so many simple and fun ways to decorate for a July 4th gathering, here are just a few ideas I liked and wanted to share!

Table Setting

Go to your local fabric and craft store and purchase a festive ribbon, cut a 12” piece and attach to the flat side of a D-ring and secure with a glue gun.  Place a box of sparklers on top of a dinner napkin and tuck under your ribbon loop – beautiful!

Flowers and Candles for the Table

If you already own clear glass votives, purchase some red, white, and blue patterned paper that you like and using double sided tape fit to the glass votive.  Purchase (or cut from your garden) a simple arrangement of flowers, it doesn’t take much to make a sweet splash of color.

Go to a Parade!

If you have a home town parade, plan to go, take your kids or grandkids.  Help them to decorate their bikes and genuinely take advantage of the splendor and the many incredible blessings that we are offered as Americans!

Do you have a July 4th family tradition?  I would love to hear about them, please share!  Have a safe and lovely holiday!
