According to the latest Houzz Renovation Barometer Report, design and renovation professionals are optimistic about the demand for their services based on work they have done. Also, this level of confidence has not fluctuated too much over the last several years. What does this mean to you? If you are the go-to friend who offers color and decorating advice, love HGTV, Houzz, or Pinterest you may want to consider starting your own business in Interior Redesign and Home Staging.
As this field has a proven record of steady growth, there is potential for anyone who wants to start a decorating business. What’s the first step? Align yourself with the proper training program that applies hands-on training with classroom education and step-by-step information on how to launch your new business.
Redesign Right offers a 5-day, hands-on class where you will gain the education, preparation, and confidence to start your own successful decorating business. Not only do you spend time learning the techniques in a classroom environment you also work hands-on at three client sites, redesigning a space using the homeowner’s elements putting your classroom education to practice. During this time, because the class size is limited to six, you have one-on-one instruction. Click here to view what past graduates have said about this program.

Have you reached a point in your life where you are now ready to do something for yourself? Are you eager to start making money at something that you love? I have offered a successful Interior Redesign and Home Staging Training program for close to 15 years now. In that time, I’ve heard all the reasons why someone wants to take a training program, and their hesitations. If you are someone who has tossed around the idea that you would like to pursue a career in interior decorating, let me address some concerns you may have.
5 Reasons why you should sign up for the Redesign Right Training Program:
The class size is capped at six students; each person is guaranteed personalized training and hands-on experience. In other words, you are not watching with a group of 25 students as one person is the only one with a hands-on activity.
In each 5-day course, there is classroom training, learning techniques of the trade, working with real fabric swatches, paint chips, and accessories and working onsite, redesigning three local client homes.
As a ten-time award winning interior redesigner, home stager, and trainer, running a successful Interior Redesign and Home Staging business with over 15 years experience I have a proven track record as a professional in this field which places me in a perfect spot to be your mentor.
You will walk away from the 5-day class understanding how to get started and be a successful business owner. What does that entail? You will learn how to market yourself and work with potential clients and find out how to ask for the money that you deserve. Remember, because you have a natural talent that comes easily to you does not mean that you should not charge, it means you should be making money doing what you love to do!
As the owner of Redesign Right, I do all of the training and working with you during the class. I am available to you to ask questions long after the class is over.
Isn’t it your time to shine? Perhaps your kids have moved on, or you want to make money at something that you enjoy, or you are simply tired of the same job you have done for years and need a creative job that offers you the opportunity to earn a living. Whatever your personal situation is at this time, I guarantee that the Redesign Right Program can fulfill your requirements. Take a step, give me a call 610.955.8202 if you have any questions about the program. I would love to have you join us! Click here to view the upcoming training schedule. As a reader of my decorating articles, you are probably drawn to my site because you enjoy decorating or appreciate decorating trends and tips. If you are someone who has a special knack for interior design and decorating, have you ever considered turning it into a career? Do you find yourself obsessed with HGTV shows and think, “I would love to do that!” Starting an interior decorating / design and home staging business may be the next best life move for you!
I find decorators are a tactile group of people who can “visualize” how the room should be arranged. How often have you been at a friend’s house and imagine what a room could look like if only you could move some pieces around and add a few accessories? This hands-on approach brings creative types joy, and we love all aspects of the decorating process. As a program trainer with over a decade of training experience and hundreds of students, I understand the value of a hands-on approach and have many testimonials backing up my program’s techniques. You may find online courses, or a downloadable eBook, which may offer you a few tips and probably a lot of frustration.
In my hands-on training program, you are learning the tools and techniques of the trade in classrooms and real client homes. You can ask one-on-one questions, touch, feel and move things around a home. You will be assigned projects to select fabric and paint color, gaining more practical experience. Another benefit of this hands-on class is working with other like-minded students who you can collaborate with potentially on future projects. After the class is over, I am always available to answer questions.
Too often at the beginning of the year, we consider the idea of taking on a new career, why not choose to invest in yourself this year and do what you love! Here’s my upcoming training schedule:
2017 Interior Redesign & Home Staging Class Schedule

“I attended Debbie’s 5-day Interior Redesign & Home Staging training; I walked away feeling that it was worth every penny. I knew I had a true love for home design, but I didn’t know how to approach starting my own business. After the training, I had enough confidence and knowledge to market the business strategically and to approach every project with a systematic design formula that works every time. I thought that it was so beneficial that I recommended two of my friends to take Debbie’s training. Best of all Debbie has a heart of gold and truly cares about her students and loves to develop lasting relationships.” – Kelly C.
“You and your class were the most rewarding experience, and what I learned and all that you shared will be a part of me always. Thank you for opening my eyes to a whole new world, valuing my talent, and the confidence to think outside of the box. Your inspiration, motivation and friendship are immeasurable!” – Laura H.
“I want to thank you for the fabulous week I had this week! Your hard work, dedication, and enthusiasm have given me the strength and courage to start a business doing the things I love! What I have learned from you this week will stay with me forever and be the building blocks to begin! Thank you!” – Donna S.
As we finish off 2016, I wanted to take this opportunity to thank the many clients and students that I have had the pleasure of working with and helping to create dream homes and bring career dreams to fruition. Over the years I have had many people take my training program for various reasons. Perhaps they love home decorating and want to supplement their passion with training, or they want to have their own business in Interior Redesign and Home Staging or they are a Realtor that wants to expand their sales and be more successful. Here is a testimonial from a recent student:
“I wanted to let you know how excited I am about my new adventure in Redesign, Home Staging, and custom window treatments.
Last week’s class was the most intense, challenging, yet invigorating and motivating experience I have had in the past 30 years.
Knowing for a good portion of my life I wanted to become a professional in the design space, I had not been able to find the inner strength to jump into the deep end and make it happen.
Your training course is powerful! You validated that Interior Redesign and Home Staging is what I need to be doing with my career. Your knowledge, experience, and ability to provide the structure, guidance, and confidence to succeed, all with a sense of humor was priceless. I can’t wait to get my business off the ground!” -Debbie W.
This program is hands-on, and you will train in three client homes along with classroom training which will give you the techniques and credentials to follow your dreams. “I hope to one day be very successful at my redesign / staging business, and I have you to thank for helping make it possible.” – JE
“I knew I’d love your course. However, I had no idea how impactful and empowering it would be! You are a fabulous instructor as well as a home stager and redesigner! You truly are changing people’s lives for the better!” -AB
“I was so impressed with how hard you worked along with us. Doing the rooms physically ourselves made the difference for me. Watching the look on the woman when she came home was amazing. Your organization and the amount of information you gave us was outstanding. The rules were simple and precise and made the job easy and workable each time.” -PK
In my last Interior Redesign and Home Staging class, I hired a friend to come in and take photos during the redesign. Afterward, she was telling me about the things she learned, and I asked her if she wouldn’t mind writing an article for me that I could share with my readers. It’s fun to hear from an outside observer, and here are her words:
It’s hard work doing a redesign.
Have you watched those design in a day shows where they come in with new furniture and accessories and create a stunning result? Debbie’s challenge is that she works with what the homeowner already owns and has to produce a stunning result in a day! Debbie’s trained eye scans the house for any items, always looking for the right material, color and size to use in a room. The team of redesigners works with what the homeowner already owns, plus any items that they may have purchased for the redesign. Debbie updates the room and offers a fresh look, and the result is incredible to see.
There’s a reason when a room doesn’t look right.
There are rules for where things should and should not be placed. Never in my life have I seen people agonize over an angle of where the couch should go. There are good reasons for this level of striving to get it right; it affects the overall look. To you or I, we eyeball things and decide if it looks good or not. We may not know why or we simply are never happy with the way it looks. There are guidelines to use for size, color, and placement and though I don’t know what the rules are seeing the finished result from a professional redesigner has made me very appreciative of those rules!
Hanging items on the wall should be measured.
I watched a group of redesigners as they planned out, measured, and appropriately hung a gallery wall that looked stunning when completed. Each picture was measured and hung with specific procedures, it was incredible to see the process, and it made me appreciate that just winging it, which has been my general motto, is not the best way to hang anything.
The reveal is just like on TV.
Imagine leaving your house in the morning leaving everything bare, and all your accessories piled in one room and coming home to a different home. It was the most beautiful thing to watch the expression of absolute disbelief as they walk around their house, seeing all of their wonderful things, placed in a fresh and useful arrangement. I’ll have to admit, even a little emotional.
Thank you for your contribution! I always love to hear from other people and listen to what they are thinking and seeing. If you would like to learn more about what a redesign can do for you or your home, give me a call 610.955.8202 or email, and we can discuss your needs! As we wind down the holidays and approach a New Year, it’s a good time to reevaluate the things around us. For many of us, we will soon be packing up and storing our holiday decorations. During this period I highly recommend going through the process of asking yourself for each item that you carefully pack away, “Do I love this?” or “Does this bring me joy?” If you find yourself answering “No” to these questions, choose to dispose if it is tattered and falling apart or consider giving the item to a charity foundation. Taking this action will accomplish many things. One, it will make you feel better. Two, by getting rid of things you remove clutter and free up space. Three, if you are giving things away, you bring joy to someone else.
For all the items that you are choosing to save, you will want to pack carefully, label and organize them for next year. Be sure to pack all the things that go together in the same container. I found some great tips from Better, Homes & Garden to help you with this process, click here to view.
If you find yourself storing things haphazardly, you will be very frustrated when you go to decorate next year. I suggest heading to one of your local home stores such as Bed, Bath, and Beyond or Target and pick up some storage products. Or check out the online site, Overstock for many discounted storage options, click here to view.
Enjoy this last week of December as you ready yourself for the new year!
